Carroll (WCPSS) Communication Update

Dear Carroll Families,

Wake County Public School System is pleased to continue a service that enhances communication by allowing us to deliver important information to you. Starting May 22, we will expand that service to include text messaging and email.

The School Messenger Notification System will alert parents and staff on matters such as principal messages, school closings, early dismissals, attendance, special activities and school emergencies.

You will receive an opt-in message on the cell phone we have on record.  We hope you will take a few moments to follow the steps to "Opt-In" to text messages. Or, you can simply opt-in to receive text messages by texting YES to the number 67587 now. Note: If you have already opted in for another school, you will not receive the opt-in text message.

In addition to performing the opt-in process, you will want to ensure that we have your phone numbers and current e-mail addresses in our student information database. You can do that by visiting Student Services.

Lastly, the expanded service calls multiple phone numbers for all associated parents/guardians. You can choose how you would like to be contacted by using the new SchoolMessenger infoCenter website or infoCenter mobile app for Android and iOS. Review the Parents Guide to infoCenter (http://bit.ly/sm-infocenter) for instructions on setting up your infoCenter account and setting your communications preferences.

For support, review the Parent FAQ (http://bit.ly/sm-parent-faq) or contact your school.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. More information can also be found at www.wcpss.net/schoolmessenger.

Thank you,
Elizabeth MacWilliams
Principal

Carroll Magnet Middle School will collect student iPads on Friday, May 19, 2017. Your child(ren) should make sure to do the following before turning in their device:
  • Ensure that the device is charged
  • Upload any documents or projects to their Wake County Schools Google account (devices will be wiped over the summer to install new updates)
  • Remove any stickers or other residue from the case

If your child(ren) does not return his/her device, a fee of $350 will be assessed. (As a reminder, if you purchased iPad insurance ($38), this fee only covers accidental damages and not theft/loss.) Although anyone who has paid the insurance fee, this amount will be deducted from the $350 ($350 - $38 = $312).

If your child(ren) does not return his/her charger, a fee of $10 will be assessed.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Lanier in the Digital Learning Department at (919) 881-1370 ext. 23056.
