First Day of School

Today was a very smooth opening of school at Carroll Leadership in Technology Magnet Middle School. The last vehicle in carpool was on our campus by 7:26 a.m., which I believe is a record for clearing Rowan on the first day of school. Whooooo-hoooo!

Students excitedly entered the building to find faculty and staff who were ready to dive into community building and engage students in meaningful learning. For our kids who had questions, many lead learners carried 'Ask Me!' signs. The leadership and self-advocacy skills that our students exhibited were impressive, especially considering Carroll's super early start time, following the lazy days of summer.

In all classes, students participated in relationship and community focused activities, including LEAD, Positivity Project, and challenge-based learning opportunities.

By the end of this week, students will have finalized their leadership proposals to name their core teams, participated in the VIA Character Strengths Survey (You should take it, too. It's free at http://www.viacharacter.org), and jumped into Covey and supporting challenges around Dream, Learn, Lead, & Innovate.

In coming weeks, all students will participate in a Leadership & Team Building field trip to Go Ape Zipline and Treetop Adventure at Blue Jay Point. More information is on the way.

We're truly in for a phenomenal school year!
