Single Subject Acceleration

Single Subject Acceleration (SSA)
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. SSA is an accelerative practice that allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course. For example, a parent could nominate his/her child to skip a grade level of content in either Language Arts OR Mathematics.

For more information, and to download a nomination form, please visit the district’s SSA website: or contact Carly Williams, SSA Contact for Carroll Magnet MS at:
Nominations will be accepted at Carroll Magnet MS during the nomination window: April 20- May 4, 2016.

Leadership Paradigms
Leadership is for the few. vs. Everyone can be a leader.
A few people are gifted. vs. Everyone has genius.
To improve schools, the system needs to change first. vs. Change starts with me.
Educators control and direct student learning. vs. Educators empower students to lead their own learning.
Focus solely on academic achievement. vs. Develop the whole person.
